This was a panel at CCA that employees could attend for professional development.
Notes:
-"Everyone is diverse, even if you are white." This was impactful because it was the first panel I had been to in a long time that acknowledged that 'white culture' is not the same. We think of one dominate white culture in the US, but even this culture is shaped by region and even the different European groups that have influenced the area and people. Many times we in the US lump together Europeans, but there are many diverse cultures, values, religions, and the such that add up to make each person different and it is stereotypes that when applied to any group, removes key aspects that make them who they are.
-Intersectional Identities:
~Each person has many different traits that influence who they are.
~Example: even when women got the right to vote in Colorado it did not include Native or Latina women. These other aspects affected their rights.
