This was my first time attending this specific Lunar New Year event. The first part of the event you experience is the outside booths.
These shirts were being sold as a fundraiser to help keep their programming going.
This booth had really cool hats (seen on the corner of the table) and they were only $12.99. The problem was that at the start of the event they didn't have any change so we had to get an additional item we really didn't want because they were unprepared for the event.
Here's the hat on me and I had a lot of people asking me where I got it. It was actually super hot and I would only recommend that you wear it on really cold days outside.
This was the entrance to the inside parts, and yes there was a ramp around the side for people with mobility issues. They were checking IDs and giving out wrist bands.
There was also a Yelp part of the event, where some Yelp members got additional goodies and a card that let them get free samples. I'm also a Yelp reviewer, but not one of the select ones that get to formally cover events like this. That's why I'm covering it here fully so that people can still get a feel for this Lunar New Year event. At least they were still giving out free dried noodles and I will get those up on the Noodle post on In My Mouth Colorado as soon as I can.
There was a weird step up to this area that was not clearly marked. Also this place had uneven floors in general that could be a hazard for people with mobility issues. They also needed to have out more low chairs instead of mostly the high bar chairs. A lot of people have trouble getting into those tall chairs.
We only stayed to see the first performance done by the Hung Mei Kung Fu Association at 12:30pm.
Just remember if you sit near the front, you may get hit with some of the veggies.
They also did a Martial Arts presentation in addition to the Lion Dance.
Before the performances started I decided to grab a drink at the bar. This was some type of banana liquor in Sprite. It was good, but I say some type because the bar tender didn't even know what liquor it was...the bar tender needs a little more training because people could be asking detailed questions due to medical issues and not being able to answer a simple question or to even not be able to tell the person the brand name can be an issue.
This was supposed to be an ube drink, but the only thing ube about it was the color. It was super bland. They had ran out of lids and it was only an hour in to the event. They also up charged on the ube in comparison to their other drinks ($7 instead of $6). This drink came from the Daboba booth.
Overall, I would say that this was a fun event. I would just recommend that you take a lot of cash with you in different amounts.
